July Update

Greetings Beloved,

We have some exciting news to share. God has provided us with a new house with less rent,  more space (including screened pool) to share with our Gospel Community and new neighbors. The house is in a neighborhood with a recreational area; pool, basketball, fitness. All great places to meet new people to share the gospel with. I admit when we first heard about this house up for rent from a couple that's part of the Round Lake Church family, I was already thinking that I didn't want to move, I like our current location and neighbors and didn't think for a moment what God might want. After finally looking at the house and talking with the owners we knew this was where God wanted us. We move July 28. Sunday July 29th we leave for Lake Aurora Christian Camp where we'll be the mission for the 5th-7th grade week.

This past weekend we were in Jacksonville teaching an Empowered Parent Conference with 7 parents. We visited the "Farm," the location for the 30 day camp and boys home. That was my first time seeing some of the children of parents attending our conferences. After our visit there and after hearing testimonies of some "Empowered Parents" that dropped by this weekend it makes me realize even more the importance of getting the word out about how life changing "The Parent Project" is. There are so many parents that have been through the conference, the camp, and support groups that say they wish they attended this when their kids were younger. But now they have peace in their homes and have found hope. Our goal for the conferences is to give parents hope; there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Our prayer is that they may have hope in Jesus and hear the gospel spoken at Camp Consequence and the Sunday morning service we all attend after the conferences.

Thank you so much for your continued support and prayers. Please pray that doors will open for a support group to start in Central Florida and EPC's will grow to the greater Central Florida area so we can help parents. "Changed Parents will see changed kids."

Grace and Peace,
Hope Kegg

Spaces part 1

I recently read a book entitled Community by Brad House. In one of his chapters he talks about 4 different spaces that we engage with people. I would like to share those with you in a four part series. These quick summaries were written by my pastor Jason Savage, follow him @savageheartburn

Participation

The first space is that one that is most common to meet people. There are already events, parks, restaurants, etc. existing in our community. All we have to do to engage this space is show up. Simply by participating in the community we can begin to engage the community. Though this is the most simple space to engage, many churches tend to compete with the community at this level. We don't want to compete but to engage.

What are some space in your community that you can engage with people? Where can you participate with others and be salt and light for Jesus?

Disciples who make disciple

Making disciples who make disciples is not that hard. It's as simple as sharing a meal together once or twice a week. Sharing your life with others, daily. Working together. Playing together. Being together.

I want to share with you a quick reference that I found. This is not a "do list" and you will make disciples, but this might help you thing about what you are doing every week.  Ask yourself, "How am I making disciple of Jesus?" One of the hardest things for Christians is to think about "being the church" all the time, instead of I/we go to church and disciple are made there. Making disciples happens everyday, everywhere. At work, in our neighborhoods, at our kids baseball practice, at the park or coffee shop.

Here is a picture of our Gospel Community on misson to make disciples. We have a meal together every week. We have DNA groups every week, gender based. (3-4 men and 3-4 women). We pray for one another, serve one another, teach one another, we play games with each other, we invite others to join us, we equip and send each other out as missionaries, to make disciples who make disciples.

Next Steps

I want to share with you how we will be planting Gospel Communities on mission over the next couple years. In a recent blog post, I shared the vision to see 50 GC's started here in Lake County. We have a wonderful partnership with Round Lake Christian Church and Jason Savage in planting these Gospel Communities.

First of all, Jason will be the moderator for the Orlando GCM collective (click here to read outline & vision). This will be a group of local church leaders, throughout Central Florida, that are leading their churches in missional living, making disciples who make disciples.

I will be helping in this endeavor by training & coaching those in our local context ( our GC's) and others from Orlando area churches. They will be equipped to go back to their cities, neighborhoods, and workplaces to engage others with the gospel of Jesus. How I will go about doing that brings me to the second part. I will take on the roll of a Gospel Community Coach and use resource like porterbrooknetwork.org  to teach and equip others to change their thinking about living as missionaries.

In order for this to happen we need your prayers and financial support. If you would like to partner with us please email jessekegg@gmail.com

Video of Gospel Communities

When we moved here in July 2011 we only knew a handful of people. It has been so great to partner with them and to be sent out to plant gospel communities.  A total of 11 adults and 10 kids are going with us, so that we can make disciples that can make disciples.

Planting Gospel Communities

A little over a year ago I attended a conference in Tacoma, Washington called Soma School. This was a week long training, both in knowledge and practice, on how to live out the mission of Jesus Christ in the every day stuff of life. Soma School was water to my soul. It put wheels on what Hope and I had been trying to do over the last 8 years. Our passion is to make disciples that can make disciples that can make disciples.

Last September we attended the GCM Conference in Huntsville, Alabama. While Hope and I were there, one of the goals mentioned was to plant one gospel communities per every 1000 people where you live. God has laid this on our heart to help plant 50 GC's here in the Mount Dora area. We have already partnered with some friends at RLCC and have started that vision with four. As we start ours this week, we already have 2-3 couples going with us that feel called to plant GC's. We will help to equip and train them to do so.

Another area that we are looking into is becoming a hub for others to come and learn to plant GC's. In order to pursue these areas, we feel that we need to raise financial support to have more time to devote to this calling. I am working two jobs right now to bring in what we need (Empowered Parent Conferences and Serving Tables). Both of these have been wonderful opportunities to share the gospel, and I plan on continue in both. Over the next two years we are looking to raise $1500-$2000 per month. Right now we are at about $700 per month. Please pray about supporting us in this call to plant the gospel here in Central Florida.
